Meet the physicians at Pediatric Alliance!
Wendy Neel Bacdayan, M.D., F.A.A.P., I.B.C.L.C. – Pediatric Alliance — Chartiers/McMurray Division (11 years)
Birthplace: Kettering, OH. I am one of 5 children. My father was a college football coach, so we moved around a lot.
Education: Brooke High School, Wellsburg, WV/ Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA/ West Virginia University Medical School.
Training: Pediatric Residency — Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh (included one year as Chief Pediatric Resident).
Professional Interests: Helping new mothers breastfeed.
Funniest Thing A Patient Has Said: I once had a 5-year-old explain to me the definition of a “muffin top.”
What Parents Can Do To Improve Their Child’s Health: Make sure they get enough sleep and try to instill healthy eating habits. Be a good example!
Favorite Patient Age: I love seeing the 4-year-olds in the office and the newborn babies in the hospital.
What I Love About Pediatrics: I like seeing patients and families grow over time. It is a great job and I feel lucky to be trusted to do it. I learn something new from our patients all the time.
Success With Breastfeeding Requires: Moms with the right mindset. I like when moms have an open mind about breastfeeding. I’m thrilled that they want to breastfeed and to reach our goal of “growing the baby.”
Hobbies: I like all sports, including college football and college basketball, and, of course, the Pittsburgh teams as well. We root for WVU, LSU, and whoever is playing Notre Dame! I’m also a runner. Nowadays I spend a lot of my free time with my three sons. Like a lot of families, I am trying to balance their schedules with mine.
Favorite Vacation Spot: Anywhere near water.
Favorite Food: Pizza or chocolate.
Always In The Fridge: Egg Beaters, OJ, and chocolate chip cookie dough.
Why I Don’t Play Golf: I never had the time to seriously practice. However, once my boys start to learn, I will start taking lessons.
