Lead:

A shocking study cautions all those people who can’t do a meal without hot sauces. In a new finding the researchers at the University of Nevada Las Vegas discovered high levels of lead in four Mexican salsa brands that are available in some parts of the U.S.

Reported at scienceworldreport.comthe four brands — all imported from Mexico — are Castillo Salsa Habanera, El Pato Salsa Picante, Bufalo Salsa Clasica, and El Yuchateco Salsa Picante de Chile Habanero.  (Picture of the salsa bottle labels here and the abstract from the study, which identified 21 imported hot sauces that did not have elevated lead levels, here.)

It’s important to note that the danger is with repeated and prolonged ingestion of these hot sauces.  If you like to put hot sauce on everything, check your brand.
