Health officials in Iowa and Nebraska said they had identified a prepackaged salad mix as the likely source of a multistage outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis infections.

Investigators in the two states said the offending product was a mixture of iceberg and romaine lettuce, plus red cabbage and carrots, shipped by an unidentified national distributor.

The particular brand was not named either, and the CDC has not yet confirmed the link, the agency said early Wednesday.

From the CDC (updated today):

  • Case Count: 378
  • Health Departments Reporting: 15 States and NYC
  • Deaths: 0
  • Hospitalizations: 21
